“God” is human after all…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s match 64
The end of the road
And for all those doubters
Les Tricolores showed

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Skill and belief
Ability to play
Even if at the end
Things didn’t quite go their way

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 As for mighty Zizou
We’re a tad disappointed
A necessary red card
For the player annointed

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Italian provocation?
Rush of blood to the head?
Toro challenge, so violent
Zizou’s damaged street cred

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 “A time to make friends”
“My game is fair-play”
The stakes were too high
And to our dismay

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 France down to ten men
A sad end to the game
And a penalty miss later
Would bring yet more pain

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 But the pressure was on
The mighty they fall
The Pope won’t be pleased
“God” is human after all…

Notes

I thought France were the better team on the day but congratulations to Italy. They are good people the Italians.

I’m still not clear why they fear the French so much.

Why, after such a good first half did they sit back?

As for Zidane… it’s a pity he hasn’t yet mastered control of his anger. His ball control and authority on the pitch has been a pleasure to watch and admire in many a match down the years. And where would les Tricolores be without him?
