Gone But Not forgotten

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “Livvo is our ginger
Livvo is our ginger
Nah nah nah nah oooh!”
So went the song in my head
As the old warhorse trotted on,
The usual hero’s welcome from
The crowd for the ‘fans favourite’

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I never really appreciated his efforts
And now he’s gone, muscling his way
Into the annuls of Grimsby Town legends
It wasn’t always magic from his leg ends

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Fondly I’ll remember him now
For let’s not forget 10 years service
Never less than 100%, it was Laws who
Said he would “run through a brick wall
for this club” and the entertainment of a
Man all blunders and elbows will not
Be forgotten, he’ll always be there
On the bench of future scribblings of
‘Best Town teams’ to while away
The tedious hours at work

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He gave us a terrible goal return
He was a rock at the back, a misshapen
Rock, but a rock nonetheless
He was an example to all, mostly good
I’ll miss him now, perhaps not for
His talent, certainly not his ginger crowned
Boat race, I’ll miss his presence, it won’t
Be the same without Livvo around
I’ll not miss the footballer
But I will miss the man

Notes

Steve “Livvo” Livingstone has just retired. I wish him all the best in anything he does.
