One full of foriegn players
Like Yashin, Puskas, Di Stefano.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Another was just for teams
With names like Dukla Prague,
and Eintracht Frankfurt.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I can remember a pennant
It was of Benfica,
Underneath was a picture of Eusebio.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A book full of international stars,
Rivera, Garrincha, Uve Seeler,
Pele spread over several pages.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 One was devoted to Jimmy Greaves
Greavsie wearing different kits,
Spurs, West Ham and Chelsea.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 At least half a dozen books
Devoted to Coventry City F.C.
Pictures with autographs on them.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Scrapbooks lovingly kept
Neatly stacked away
Alongside piles of soccer annuals.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 These are diaries of a childhood
Footballers and football teams
And seasons remembered.

Notes

Writing about Greavsie, brings back memories of when I first started going to games. This was the sixties, the time of rattles, rosettes, big crowds, great players, it had the lot.
I like to look through old Charles Buchan annuals, (sad, but who cares )
and I can drift off to those days, and we were obsessed with scrapbooks, and collecting autographs, we were all in competition with each other !
I imagine kids today still do the same, but to us it was like a job, we were always there outside after the games, hounding the players for their signatures, great times and memories.
