Green Grass of Home

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The ferry ’cross the Mersey
Docks at the Pier Head
A look towards the Liver Birds
Standing majestically overhead

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I wander up to Mathew Street
Where our Fab Four once ruled
A bite to eat and a beer or two
In the heartland of Liverpool

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Jump a cab to Anfield Road
Past Eleanor Rigby, on her own
Up Scottie Road to The Valley
My dreams are tossed and blown

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Along the Walton Breck Road
The Spion Kop comes into view
My heart starts beating faster
As I mingle with the chosen few

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Through the Paisley Gateway
I cast a glance over at Shanks
Legend, Hero and Football Sage
With a nod, I offer my thanks

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Through the turnstile, up the steps
And there it is before my eyes
The green, green grass of home
No more storms, just golden skies
