Happy Birthday Carrow Road

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Seventy years at Carrow Road
Decades of many changes
Lost count of times I’ve stood and sung
And shared my thoughts with strangers
The Nest replaced by Carrow Road
Terraces became all seater stands
Everything changes, it just seems the same
Fans replaced by fans
My grandparents stood in the crowd
Of hats, overcoats and Woodbines
No replica shirts or baseball caps then
Like us, they represented the times
That generation have flown The Nest
Or you could say, fell off their perch
Gone to watch from Heaven Terrace
Our club, the Peoples Church

Notes

August 31st 1935 saw the official opening of Carrow Road by Club President Russell Colman.
Following ancestral footsteps on a Saturday afternoon, and we’re still singing the same song …
