Hari Kari Croquet

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I read the dismal stats at season’s end.
Our rival’s captain holds the cup in hand.
And now the thought that maybe I should spend
My weekends playing croquet with my friends,

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Or learning how to crochet with my friends.
Each year these disappointments without end
Make this frustrated fist out of my hand.
To balance books we’ll have to sell to spend.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Economies of scale prove that the spend
Must be on players who are near the end
Of journeymen careers needing a hand
To lift them leagues above their present friends.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I would not seek promotion cap in hand.
I’d only borrow so that I could spend
On going to the football with my friends-
To laugh and cry until the bitter end.
