1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Home fans shed tears to the pub talk one hears
That the increased wages on offer have failed
They thought he’d be here for another few years
It’s sure knocked the wind from their sails

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Why would he say in the redtops each day?
“This club has taken me to its heart
These fans are my kind, we’ve a tie that doth bind
I’m quite sure that we’ll never part!”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Who’ll treat him like us, when a goal drought so rough
Had left him outside of the team?
We were there to offer morale boosting songs
When he suffered from low self esteem

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When he was slaughtered by Five O Five callers
Who was it who rang up in defence
To argue “He’s just having a bad time of things right now
It’ll all work out fine in the end”

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When the goals finally came
In a dire drawn game, who was it
Ignored the result?
“He’s scoring, that’s good – I told you he would
The loss of form’s not really his fault?”

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 As he walks out on the pitch
You think, this is rich
Coming out here to sadly wave us goodbye
Each and every one of us can’t fail to see
The crocodile tears he doth cry!

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The team on doth sail as idols do fail
To live up to yer high expectations
Tis a shame but the fame game is fickle to some
Who prefer to constantly change destination
