He Must Score…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I brought the ball out of defence
With arrogance and confidence,
Feinted left and dummied right
To whet the home crowd’s appetite.
The tackles kept on flying in,
But each I took upon the chin,
And rode them all with strength and power,
Just like a young Franz Beckenbauer.
On and on and on I ran,
The crowd behind me to a man.
The last defender was a goner,
Eat your heart out, Maradonna.
The keeper came, I dummied left,
And left him flailing, quite bereft,
And as the fans began their singing,
My alarm clock started ringing.
