Hernan Crespo vs Arsenal 28/10/2003

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Green eyes and clenched fists
As the Russian reconstructions
Resulted in casualties and panic purchases
Players jumping ship to Fulham Broadway.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A pricey Argentine, now maybe forgotten
As his English tenor slightly tainted
By overcasting
For his role.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A quick trip to Highbury began weak
As the hosts took an early lead
And laurels rested as Edu
Gives away the dominance.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Some say awareness, others mild cheating
Whilst Crespo nursed an ankle on the touchline
And calls for the chance
Sprightly getting to his feet.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Red shirts backed off
A small instep beats one with room
No hesitance or hindrance as a reminder of the talent
And skill nestled resoundingly.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Momentum flings the standing foot
As eyes gaze at, and past, curving as the swing
And flight and curve
Leaves the gate keeper on the walk.
17 million of unproved gold, but the treasure was always there.

Notes

This is a poem that will posted to the ‘cheers from the stanzas’ blog soon, but I wanted to give you something that would have been exclusive to you guys. The poems do work better with pictures, but the poem I think still has enough appeal to work without them.
