High Five

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 First five on a Friday night when
high flying Tranmere were thrashed.
Then when we should have been
hung over on New Year’s Day
struggling Pompey were dispatched
by the same scoreline:
stalemate after an hour,
then the goals rained in –
5 in just over 20 minutes.
On FA Cup third round day
Town were in League One action,
the visitors, the Cumbrians from Carlisle.
“8-0!” I ejaculated before the match to
anyone in listening distance,
grinning toothily as I
uttered this hypothesis.
In truth it could and should
have been at least eight if
Town had taken their chances.
A score of 4-0 would have to suffice,
though a vociferous crowd, numbers
boosted by kid-a-quid initiative
bayed for more blood.
The last 3 games have yielded
14 goals without reply.
High fives all round.

Notes

Swindon are in fine goal scoring form at the moment. Long may it continue!
