if we should ever move apart
the way fans sometimes do
if we should miss be sure of this
our friendship will stay true
¶ 2
Leave a comment on verse 2 0
if we should ever drift away
along the path of time
let not the haze of long gone days
be to some pile resigned
¶ 3
Leave a comment on verse 3 0
in any land both near or far
for fifty years or more
the joy and pain has still remained
come win or lose or draw
¶ 4
Leave a comment on verse 4 0
the games we stood and sat right there
as seasons did unfurl
or roared and cheered to goals we shared
from far across the world
¶ 5
Leave a comment on verse 5 0
like school-pals home from holidays
or soldiers back from war
how teams are like our greatest friends
whatever lies in store
¶ 6
Leave a comment on verse 6 0
but one thing’s true for one and all
that link stays strong somehow
through ev’ry game come sun or rain
as great as then and now
