How to Shackle Genius

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 County Ground bulging at the seams,
biggest gate for sixteen years,
boosted by extra seats.
Tumultuous reception greets the teams:
Swindon Town and Chelsea,
biggest game for years.
Early signs are promising:
Luongo’s lung busting runs,
Kassim’s passes each a tender caress –
Iraq’s Pirlo probing in midfield.
Wes defiant in goal,
Ward and Hall resilient.
Then Chelsea strike twice
to show their class
like daggers through the heart.
Early in the second Dany’s header
keeps em guessing – offside.
Home side’s joy short-lived.
Rest of the match played out
in raucous atmosphere,
though no more goals.
All agreed at the end:
we’ll take a 2-0.

Notes

Fantastic night/occasion. My team did me proud.

Editor Note: Yeah, great night and a fine Robins performance at one of my all time favourite grounds. Must be those Stamford Bridge look-alike floodlights of yesteryear! Love to see Swindon get back one day..We badly need a successful side in the West..Where else will it come from.?
