Howzat. Howzat??

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The cricket’s
Not the The Working Man’s Ballet of course*
Though it has to be said
Winning an occasional Ashes match
Could bowl the odd maiden over.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Thing is
When I walk by the telly and hear posh voices squawk
It does in me head
So just like a parrot I’m now known to retort, “Howzat, Howzat?
Howzat for a bleetin game of soldiers?!?”

Notes

*A name for The Beautiful Game said to have been attributed to the former Stoke City manager Tony Waddington, and a book by the same name (about Alan Hudson) that I’m sure I have a copy of somewhere.

The Ashes what’s that all about? The only ashes I remember are the ones I used to play on, for the school team in the London public parks of me wonderful youth, and painful they were too if you we’re a goalie. So don’t talk to me about no bleetin ashes or them cricket things that make a weird clicking noise in the trees at night.

As the above suggests. Even for all it’s faults I’m glad The Football’s back…at last.

Oh…Fabregas is magic…

Stay well, be lucky and keep smiling.

Peace.

Kev.
