I Like David Beckham

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I like David Beckham, I promise I do,
It bothers me not that he played for Man U,
When the ball comes to him, there’s a definite buzz.
Though I’m slightly annoyed he did not sign for us.*

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I like David Beckham, he’s a modest young chap,
If he’d been born Irish, he might get a cap,
I think that his talents might just do the trick,
But only if Carsley and Jason were sick.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I like David Beckham, I make no apo-logy,
Though sometimes his dress-sense and haircuts are dodgy,
But it miffs me that he and his charming young wife
Earn more in a month than my dad in his life.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I like David Beckham, he has the work ethic,
He’d go down a storm at St. Patrick’s Athletic,
The crowd would appreciate all of his tricks,
If only he’d practise at taking free kicks.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I like David Beckham, he’s got loads of dosh,
And I wouldn’t half mind being married to Posh,
Although her sarongs might just make me look fat,
But I think that we’d better not go into that.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 * Shelbourne.

Notes

St. Patricks Athletic, a hard-working, journeyman side in the eircom League, somewhat unfairly nicknamed Set-Piece Athletic, from their inability to score from open play.
