1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The Banks of the Mersey have always been
A land for those frm across the seas
Songs and words and new togues bold
Grace our town with vibrant soul

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Liverpool Scene and always heard
Rich with poetry Henri’s words
Down Strawberry Fields And Penny Lane
The School of Science and The Liverpool Way

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Merchants, pirates made men slaves
Greed and power their favourite trade
The blood of freedom races through
The lessons learned today ring true

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The ugly face of drugs still grins
But just say no and don’t give in
This yellow submarine this melting pot
This Scotland Road this Albert Dock

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 There’s Willy Russell and Alan Bleasedale
Rita Tushingham and Carla Lane
There’s Mersey Poets there’s a dollop of Cream
And down at the Cavern dreamers dream

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 There’s Mersey Tunnels And Mersey Beat
There’s Steven Gerrard with his Mersey Feet
There’s Mersey Words and Mersey Pride
We’re rich with life on Merseyside

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 And watching still the Liverbirds
Not once have flown from that high perch
The city’s safe within their keep
And all their children safely sleep

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 “What would you do if Jesus returned?”
A Baptist poster once wanted to learn
The answer came and this it said
“Move St John to inside left!”

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Our river’s ferries take you home
And no one here will walk alone
We’ve The Liverpool Philly and the JMU
The Royal Court and The Everyman too

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Down Church Street and then North John
Past Lord Street and the Vicky mon
Through the India Building on to Pier Head
The place is looking good but they haven’t finished yet

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 This vibrant land this heaven’s plot
This kaleidoscopic city’s got the lot
Streets of Hope And Paradise found
Paddy’s wigwam and the Anglican, sound!

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Picton Library St Georges Hall
The Walker Gallery right next door
We’ve seen the worst, we’ve lived the best
We’ve been judged at times by an ignorant press

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 Strikes and dole from prejudiced views
But the Liverpool Soul shines brightly through
There’s Eric’s, Probe and Pete Wylie,
Homegrown Ians 123

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 Red or Blue? John or Paul?
What joins us up? We’re Scousers all
No dustbin lids No “leavin’” songs
No “mucky kids” those days now gone

15 Leave a comment on verse 15 0 This timeless town this pool of life
With our 3 Graces proud beside
5 Euro Cups, and a treble for Hou
And a few cups won by them in blue

16 Leave a comment on verse 16 0 We gave the world its songs to sing
And built the ships that sailed its seas
This home to us is boss and sound
God love our precious Lbpool town.
