because I love football
so did my Father as well
taking me to games when I was small.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I must be a real man
because I keep a stiff upper lip
when I see a Coventry fan crying
I tell him to please get a grip.

because at matches I can stand the cold
you won’t see me wearing gloves
and no hat as I’m not going bald.

because I don’t watch soaps on T.V.
while us males are viewing the football
the women are glued to Holby City.

as I haven’t a clue how to cook
anyway that’s why they invented the microwave
save you from buying a Deliah Smith cook book.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So yes I’m in love with The Beautiful Game
and also a devoted Coventry City fan
so does that mean I’m just a fool
or because I’m only being a man ?

Notes

Like the poem by Poor Phraser I’m not a man cos I don’t like Football.
Which inspired me to write this in response,as usual it’s only tongue in cheek and a bit of fun.
I know blokes who prefer other sports to football my second passion is Boxing and you can’t get a tougher sport than that.
i once nearly caused a riot in a pub when I grabbed the remote when boring Golf was on the telly to switch on the football,and it was full of blokes waiting to see Tiger Woods sink a putt !
