I Read The News About This Boy.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Wearing the colours
Of your team
As kids
Was and still is everything.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Once injected with that passion
For the team.
As a fan, supporter, punter
What ever you want to call us
You were hooked.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The wonderful
Feeling of finding an identity,
Of true belonging.
Was a wonderful club to be part of.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Who cares, what team it was or is,
Where it was or what league
It played in?
You did, that’s who.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When you’re stood
Or sat there, as is the case
For the most part these days.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Where your loyalty lies
Is all that matters… to you.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Then you’re told at primary school, that on Red Nose Day (Friday last).
They would like you to wear…Red.
Even if you’re an… Evertonian, and a commited Blue Nose?
Just why should you wear the colours of your teams rivals?
When Blue is… The Colour. Great name for a song there or what?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Well six year old Lucas Sheratt, outraged that he should have to wear Red for the day. Soon sorted that little lot out. He got people to sponsor him wearing Blue and a Marouane Felliani wig to boot! He had intended to raise £30 quid for the charity, but at the last count had raised £2,500 with 250 odd football (Blue and Red) fans sponsoring him.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Why?

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Coz they/we know exactly where he’s coming from, and just what our teams colours mean to us fans!

Notes

Check out twitter and pledge this highly principled young fella some gelt.
A truly great story about a true and loyal fan.
This piece of prose was inspired by a story that was in the Chelsea programme for Sunday’s Man City match.
