If

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 If you can stand there strong and tall
And help to form a perfect wall
And watch him as the ball is placed
And twenty paces backwards paced…
If you can watch with hands clasped tight,
With trembling lips and knuckles white
As in he thunders like a train,
Determined to inflict great pain…
If you can stand and never flinch,
Refuse to yield a single inch,
Despite the fact the ball at pace
Might strike you squarely in the face
And leave your nose a bloodied mass
That stains the sweet but muddied grass…
If vict’ry over fear is won,
Why then you’ll be a man, my son.
