If Wishes and Dreams came true for Aldershot Fans

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 If wishes and dreams do come true,
what would we wish for the Red n Blue?
To win every game in which we play?
Be unbeatable, both home and away?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Have a sixty thousand all seater ground?
With support that would mightily resound?
Our Chairman on Sky with exclusive quotes?
Lighting up cigars with fifty pound notes?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Our supporters not showing any nerves,
whilst winning the Cup with our reserves?
Up the leagues we’d relentlessly climb
Being awarded the Premiership for “All Time”

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 No team against us could surely stand
We’d simply be, the best in the land
But we don’t support this fantasy side
And I remember when my team died

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Do you remember in ’92
There was no team in the Red and Blue
Through spending money on the never never
Our club could have gone……. forever

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Never again should we play fast and loose
Never again should we make an excuse
To go with cap in hand to borrow
We must ensure Aldershot is here tomorrow

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So maybe we’ll lose a good player or two,
and wait a long time for somebody new
Whilst our legacy we try to preserve
We won’t always get what we deserve

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 But one day our time will come
It’ll be our turn for a day in the sun
Whilst other teams may go to the wall
The Shots will be still here, standing tall

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 It may well take a little bit longer
Than other teams that are a bit stronger
To make our comeback all complete
That’ll only make it all the more sweet

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 And remember that it is not our selection
Which team is going to receive our affection
Mark my words, what I say is true
It is the Shots that CHOOSES YOU!

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 So head up and don’t be dejected
Cause it isn’t many that’ve been selected
But we are some of the chosen few
To hold the torch for the Red and Blue

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Sing it long and sing it proud
And you will stand out from the Crowd
Look each man square in the eye
And say, “I’m Aldershot…… till I Die”

Notes

Aldershot FC went out of business in 1992, basically bankrupt. It was kicked out of the league and for a short time, it looked as though that was going to be that. But fans got together and reformed the club as Aldershot Town. But it had to start again in the lowest of the Ryman Leagues. Since then there has been a steady climb up the pyramid to the Conference where we are today. Just one division below where Aldershot FC originally was.
