Imagine This ???

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Imagine going to school
On Monday morning
To write a poem on the match
To describe offside
And the benefits
Of a sweeper at the back

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 How the keeper played a blinder
With fine fabulous saves
How wingers sheer audacity
Makes you cheer and rave

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Terrace tunes so moving
Funny and surreal
Describe the vibe
You got the first time
You saw a bycycle kick, unreal!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The devotion and emotion
You felt inside the ground
In the days when the entrance fee
Was a mere deuce* or just three pound (two quid in cockney slang)

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 If you did the poem sprightly
The whole class would back your team
Cos after all they inspired your writing
And gave you all your dreams!!!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 They made you so articulate
You wrote such poignant prose
You’d speke of trips to Liverpool
Or Londons Fulham road
Highbury in Islington
St James at its peak
You would be so learned
The class would demand
You write each week!

Why oh why were we never allowed to do this?

Would we now have a whole league of passionate writers, up and down the country penning stuff on the beautiful game every Monday morning for the papers?

Just a surreal thought!
