In the Same Boat

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Three brave men from Kirkcaldy,
Sailed their boat across th’ sea,
Painted blue an’ named ‘Raith Rover’
‘Til a big storm blew her over..
In th’ waves for quite a while,
At last cast up on a desert isle,
Jim wept, Jock wailed an’ Sandy prayed,
But all were there for th’ nex’ decade…

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Marooned, they’d sit oot in th’ sun,
Wond’rin’ how their team was gettin’ on,
Talkin’ foo’ball ’til it got dark,
An’ dream ’bout bein’ at Starks Park..
Then one day, upon th’ beach,
Lay a bottle within arm’s reach,
They pulled th’ cork, lo an’ behold,
Out flew a genie with turban gold…

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Th’ genie cheered, “I’m free, Hooray!
I’ll grant you each a wish this day.”
Jock cried, “Hoots Mon, set me doon
Ootside Raith Rovers’ foo’ball groon’..”
A puff o’ smoke an’ he was gone,
Then th’ genie asked, “Next one?”
Jim answered, “Put me in th’ pub,
Near m’ fav’rit’ foo’ball club…”

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 In a flash Jim disappeared,
While th’ genie twirled his beard,
It had come t’ Sandy’s turn,
An’ he said, “I really yearn
Tha’ I should nae mair be alone,
Wi’oot m’ friends, all on m’ own,
It’s enough t’ make me shed a tear,
I wish tha’ Jock an’ Jim were here…”
