Injury Time

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When you’re out of action
With your leg in traction
What do you do to pass the time
When injury strikes you in your prime

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Hang about all day at the bookies
Drink gallons of tea and eat choc chip cookies
Can’t do much until you’re fitter
Spend hours trading insults with fans on Twitter

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Where does it leave you when you can’t kick a ball
On crutches and legless, on a pub crawl
Flick through the channels on Boredom TV
Send out for a pizza, get garlic bread free

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Miss all the banter, miss all the lads
Read every sports page, study the stats
It’s like having an itch that you can’t scratch
Players feel like fans when we don’t have a match

Notes

Blank Saturday. Those dreaded dates on the calendar when there’s an international break or your team has been knocked out of all the cups. Real life has to be faced – shopping, gardening, DIY – and that’s great ‘cos there’s nothing like being stood in a queue of disgruntled supermarket trolleys to remind us why we love football…
