Built like a brick outhouse
Iron Man was his nickname.

Iron Man was in his element
Born to be a leader of men.

That means on and off the pitch
Respect earned by actions.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He stood proud on the pitch
Sleeves rolled up on strong arms
Sweat and mud on Sky Blue kit.

The opposition knew who he was
You didn’t get called Iron Man for nowt.

George ” Iron Man ” Curtis that’s who
A captain in every sense of the word !

This is about a captain Cov City had in the sixties, George Curtis, and I can see him now running on to the pitch, ball tucked under one arm, with a look that said, I’m in charge of this lot, okay ? Captains in that era, usually were tough, both physically and mentally, they stood apart, but today maybe the armband is handed out to anyone, even goalies !
