It Crossed the Line

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I kept a close watch on the grand design,
And I swear that I heard Jamie shouting ‘Mine!’
I saw him place the header mighty fine,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It was the referee’s assistant gave the sign,
Though the Cork fans said he was a swine,
But to us he was our Valentine,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Villagers began to mope and pine,
As their spirits fell into a decline,
They even claimed the linesman should resign,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Oh it tasted as sweet as cherry wine,
And it made two thousand faces shine,
As we lit another candle on the shrine,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

Notes

The day before the Liverpool no-goal against Chelsea, Shels scored a similar and equally-important “goal” against Cork in the Setanta Cup
