I kept a close watch on the grand design,
And I swear that I heard Jamie shouting ‘Mine!’
I saw him place the header mighty fine,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

It was the referee’s assistant gave the sign,
Though the Cork fans said he was a swine,
But to us he was our Valentine,

It crossed the line.

The Villagers began to mope and pine,
As their spirits fell into a decline,
They even claimed the linesman should resign,
Ah, poor Devine,
It crossed the line.

As we lit another candle on the shrine,
