thank God that Wales are still there
as we awake from this bad dream
we’re still unsure of our best team
the beauty is.. though we’re unsure
it doesn’t matter anymore

for all the passion they forgot
and how he’s loved to be a part
despite our lack of style or heart
while drawing from his little coat
his useless pre-planned farewell note
penned in advance I’d make a guess
afraid to face the waiting press
he took a trip along the Seine
instead of watching Iceland’s game
it blows my mind yet here we are
reminded that we’ve not come far
and money is the one main goal
the F.A bleed us heart and soul

this empty feeling here today
it happens ev’ry single time
perhaps Iceland were just sublime?
will we go on like this forever
our passing isn’t smooth or clever
body language says it all
our pace at times reduced to crawl
while pundits point and underline
our non-existent forward line
the fear embedded in each face
the fans who forked out in this place
the worst part is we know for sure
we’ve been here all those times before
spineless feckless abject clueless
that never knowing what to do-ness

compared to ours so weak and lame
so desperate and lacking pace
but not a glimpse a glance or taste
and gifted with an early pen
we give the lead straight back to them
It’s up there with the very worst
but let’s remind ourselves at first
and look back on this night in shame
while Roy slopes off avoiding blame

the years we’ve wasted with such faith
in trusting someone who it seems
with loyalty destroyed our dreams
