It Never Stopped Raining!

As ceaseless rain
Lashed down insane
We rowed toward the ground.

Passing sodden touts
And drunken louts
Both badgering the crowd.

As our disgracefully paid attendants
Sold match programmes in the wet
Fans bought poppies off war veterans
To make sure we don’t forget.

Clutching plastic I.D cards, we queued impatiently
Whilst a spontainous “Knee’s Up Mother Brown”
Helped ease the tension, I pondered on the rarity;
A three-o-clock kick off in the Premiership,
A mournful Saturday in West London,
As winter rain came tipping down
