It Never Stopped Raining!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As ceaseless rain
Lashed down insane
We rowed toward the ground.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Passing sodden touts
And drunken louts
Both badgering the crowd.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 As our disgracefully paid attendants
Sold match programmes in the wet
Fans bought poppies off war veterans
To make sure we don’t forget.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Clutching plastic I.D cards, we queued impatiently
Whilst a spontainous “Knee’s Up Mother Brown”
Helped ease the tension, I pondered on the rarity;
A three-o-clock kick off in the Premiership,
A mournful Saturday in West London,
As winter rain came tipping down

Notes

Complete madness! We’ve weather, here in London, only a fool would venture out in?

All I can say is thank God for me mountaineering gear! As long as me feet are dry, me head, ears and hands are warm, I can put up with almost anything the elements may chuck at me, and yesterday me and thousands like me did just that.

This kind of weather is the real test of a fan’s mettle and loyalty, surely?
