It’s Coming Home (and Away)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The new campaign is coming, pre-season games arranged
Players signing in and out, the manager has changed
The players will soon be reporting back for training
There is a chance by then that it will have stopped raining

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Only 45 more days and counting
Till then we fill weekends with DIY and grouting
The countdown is hotting up for the Olympic games
Constant running commentary on an ancient running flame

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I watch Wimbledon, to cheer on British Andy
Catch up on DVDs, from War Horse back to Gandhi
On warm evenings take time to smell the roses
The garden grows around me as I succumb to sunny dozes

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I’ve washed me shirt, me lucky scarf
I even gave the cat a bath
We’re marking time in this close season limbo
Don’t panic, it’s only 175 days till Chrimbo!

Notes

(I made the bit up about the cat and the bath. Anyone who knows cats knows that if I had attempted this, I would resemble a pile of grated Cheddar)
My next game to watch will be Norwich City v Ajax on 31st July. We’ve also got a friendly v Borussia Munchengladbach. If they do a half and half scarf for that, Norwich will only be a quarter.
