European Championships
Footie fans champing at the bit
Staring at the screen which is our sweet shop window
Then the truth hits home, you don’t-win, you don’t-go

Contemplate a summer with nothing but rain
No ninety minute daydreams, no goals to entertain
We’ll have to pick another team to get ourselves behind
Europes changed since I was at school, there are bits I cannot find

Fill your pantry with half-time snacks
No need to hide behind the sofa
Just enjoy it to the max

Stock up with Viennese fancies
Swiss chocolates, some Toblerone
Italian pasta, French sticks, German sausage
With no place for tea and scones**
