It’s Coming Home

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 European Championships
Footie fans champing at the bit
Staring at the screen which is our sweet shop window
Then the truth hits home, you don’t-win, you don’t-go

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Contemplate a summer with nothing but rain
No ninety minute daydreams, no goals to entertain
We’ll have to pick another team to get ourselves behind
Europes changed since I was at school, there are bits I cannot find

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It saves England fans getting up false hope
It stops us sticking silly flags on cars
It mean that one hundred thousand footballs
Will be given away by Mars*

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Enter into the spirit, it will be like ‘being there’
Fill your pantry with half-time snacks
No need to hide behind the sofa
Just enjoy it to the max

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Stock up with Viennese fancies
Swiss chocolates, some Toblerone
Italian pasta, French sticks, German sausage
With no place for tea and scones**

Notes

* other confectioners are available

** don’t go spoiling it – let’s pretend it’s scone as in cone, not scone as
in gone

European Championships – coming soon – can’t wait.
