It’s Over….It’s Over….It’s Over!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The best team in the country, has just won the title
Though it hurts me like to hell to concede
We can have no excuses, though for quite a few weeks
It was just them and us, way out front in the lead

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The others were miles off the pace in this race
For the title, that signifies….Best
So for now, we’ll just have to settle for second
Wait and see, what the future holds next?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We just couldn’t grasp the chances that came
In order to close that small gap
That’s the difference between being the best in the game
Or the forgot about next in the pack

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Sure, winning is great and we’d all love to drink
From the chalice that champions hold
But just at that moment you think
It’s your day, this game has a habit of knocking you cold

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The last few weeks, have been so exciting
More so than ever before
I can honestly say that the last two title wins
Have been somewhat pallid to this seasons furore

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 At times we were dead, down and buried
Had a mountain to climb to survive
But we all pulled together to raise that last once
Of strength, to keep our slim hopes alive

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Our manager ain’t done us no favours
With his outspoken view, post some games
But today he was gracious to the team who had triumphed
So maybe, at last, he might change?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Of course we have had our detractors
Who don’t like the way that we play
But most of those have been teams left in our wake
Who would, if given the chance, take our place

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 There’s still a cup final and two league games to play
One v the champions elect
So we’ll give them a hand when they come to our place
And show them the utmost respect!

Notes

One of the most exciting seasons, for me as a football fan, it’s been my privelidge to witness. Has for us, in the league, at least, just come to an end.

The best team in the country, Manchester United, have rightly won the league, but we (well someone had to) gave them a bit of a scare along the way. So many congratulations to them and their fans…..see you Wednesday and at Wemberly!

Out of a set back, something good usually comes, so Mourinho, on telly today after the Arsenal game, was both complimentary to the worthy champions and most gracious in defeat.

So maybe next year if he’s still here (I personally don’t think he will be!) he might learn to keep his north and south shut some of the time and let his teams do the talking, where it counts, on the pitch!

Me old ticker is just returning to normal after all the excitement of the last few weeks!

Truly great stuff!
