I’ve A Train To Catch.(Yeah Right)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Goals two and three
Stirred a crashing of seats,
A waving of fists toward the pitch
After two recent draws
We’re out of top four,
With no chance we’ll ever catch City.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 ‘Want aways’ on recess
Had been wanting at best
A hatful of goals from our team
Sad reality is
Dear old fate has a trick
Of want, missing out to let’s see?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 What of seasonal cheer?
Caught a train so I hear
From the anger being aimed toward the pitch
At our gaffer, and striker
A pair who might not or might
Stay unless we’re sorted and quick.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Anyways, all that aside,
Of our team on the slide,
Is irrelevant to what occurred next
It seems the loyalists what stayed
Turned on ‘Want aways’
With a tirade of abuse toward the exits.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So fair play to the fans
Who stood and cheered, clapped their hands
In the boat race of a galling defeat*
And castigated ”Want aways?”
Three a penny nowadays
Loyalists should it suit them next week!

Notes

Stamford Bridge.Yesterday afternoon. Chelsea 1 Aston Villa 3.

I’m full of pride and real praise
For the loyalist’s who stayed.

*Boat race is Cockney slang for face.

Happy New Year to all fellow poets and punters.

Carefree…….we’re off to Battersea.

Go well and be lucky.

Peace.

Kev
