Jesus

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I want a Jesus
Who pulls on His football boots
To deliver sermons
Who wears a football shirt
On Sundays left over
From Saturday’s results
Who stands in the Kop
With His mates
Singin’ His heart out
And shakin’ His head
At missed opportunities
Then standing in line with the faithful
At half time
Bursting for a pee
And being fleeced for a burger
I want a Jesus
Who walks the same streets as me
Wincing at the rain and grey skies
Cursing the lack of umbrellas
Worried about a future uncertain
Yet whose warm fingers
Calloused and scarred with life
Still reach out freely with forgiveness to
The child in His eyes
Me.
