Jimmy Hill

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 He came to Coventry in the sixties
when we were a third division team
he turned this lowly club around
with his amazing Sky Blue dream.
Some fans thought he was mad
my father said he won’t last long
but when his teams kept on winning
he went and proved them all wrong.
He got us up to the first division
with his exciting all action play
the crowds flocked to Highfield Road
the atmosphere electric on a match day.
How we could do with Jimmy Hill now
he’d turn our fortunes around
the Sky Blue revolution returning
no empty seats to be found.
But at least he’s got his statue
and we’ll never forget his name
he put us on the football map
and we’re all so glad that he came !

Notes

The statue went up outside the Ricoh Arena last week in honour of the great man for what he did for our club.

Maybe he wasn’t to everyone’s liking but he was great for us fans, he was way ahead of his time with his ideas.

He turned up for the unveiling of the statue and at eighty odd years of age still had that energy and flamboyance he stormed into Coventry with all those years ago.

A legend and we all wish we had him today !
