Kick Dad jokes Out of Football

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I am offended by your ‘offence’
Perhaps selective ignorance
By attacking an innocent bloke
For making a poor, but not racist, joke.
This trivialises the real hate
That lives, still, within our stadiums gates

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Racism. Sexism. Homophobic songs –
These are real and are wrong
Go investigate something else,
Sometimes monkey just means monkey
And you’ve made one of yourself.

Notes

”The matter has been raised by the chair, Lord Herman Ouseley, directly with the Football Association, who acknowledges the apology made by Roy Hodgson, and now seeks an investigation to ascertain the full facts and ensure a similar situation does not arise again.”

What matter? Roy Hodgson made a joke that was not remotely racist, as acknowledged by the ‘monkey’ (is that going to get ME in trouble with the FA despite being a clear reference to Hodgson’s joke!?) in question. Well done on trivializing genuine racism within football and trying to appropriate the word monkey as being exclusively racist.
