King of the Fishes – Goodbye Henrik

King of the Fishes always knew
Where the net was, that was true.
All the little fishes bowed,
Ending up subdued and cowed.
Like a salmon, he could leap,
Fooling tadpoles in his sleep.
Up the channels he would steal,
Slippy as a conger eel,
Never failing to impress
With the scale of his success.

But now he’s gone, he took the bait,
Bit before it was too late,
Though he’s rather old to make
The leap from pond to giant lake.
I thought he was extremely fond
Of being King in that small pond.
