Not once but twice
As the French book their place at the show.
“But it wasn’t my hands fault”
Barca’s Terry has cried
That’s alright then, long as we know.

On occasion
That the man in the black didn’t see.
Henry thought it a joke
See that smirk on his face
As he wheels away smiling, the cheat.

Both sides of the argument
Of course the goal scored should be scratched
There’s even been a plea
In the Republic this afternoon
To replay the whole of the match.

Seems a quiet decent fellow
Mature with a captains responsibility
In the heat
Of the moment as The Parc De Prince bellowed
Was he overcome by a win at all costs mentality?

Notes

I’ve watched this over and over again, and I’ve a distinct feeling that he (Henry) knew exactly what he was doing. So my take on the above incident, for what it’s worth, is that Terry Henry was willing to risk a yellow card if he was seen to handle the ball by the referee, for the glory at what-ever cost if he wasn’t. The rest as they say is history. Unless of course history is made and they replay the whole game, if it was down to me I would and suspend Henry for the replayed match.
