Ladies First

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 By now we’re all immersed,
in headlines: competitions cursed
by deals of men. The bubble’s burst.
They sold our Game. The Ball’s coerced.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But, …

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 . . . if these fortnights, interspersed
with goals and highlights unrehearsed,
witness endeavour’s pride be nursed
to health, and Shame, hunted, dispersed,

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Then, . . .

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We will all be reimbursed
by Fleming; Marta . . .*; those who thirst
to see this tawdry tide reversed;
and we’ll Proclaim: “It’s Ladies First.”

* . . .and Oshoala, and Miedema, and Sinclair, and Sawa, and Williams, and Renard, and Angerer, and Scott, and those who have yet to roar. Best wishes to all participants and supporters of the WWC 2015. TM
