Notes

Cynghanedd is a Cymric poetic pattern which involves repetition of consonants with variation of vowels. So all you Football Poets who love haiku and limericks, why not try cynghanedd – it’s fun. Of course this one is not a pure cynghanedd – it gets very technical. the greatest practitioner in English was the amazing Gerard Manley Hopkins.
Anyway, it was nice to see Ossie sparkle on his England debut. It’s a fitting reward for his loyalty, hard work, and being the opposite of a prima donna.
Editors: Great work. Probably a first here in 12 years.Apologies for reducing original full length of title to fit page. You wait ages for a Villanelle or a Cynghanedd to come along and then two come along in the same week!
