Lets Get It On!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The time for talking’s over
As momentum gathers pace
Will we win and if we do
Will we win with skill and grace?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Will the press talk of “The Football”
Not what goes on outside
Will the referees be fore warned by the powers that be
“Don’t get taken for a ride”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Will the artistes be protected
From those who maim and clog
Will the eejits be ejected and locked up
By the polizie and dogs

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Will the games all flow in a vibrant glow
Will a rising star light up
To justify the managers faith in him
To shine in this World Cup

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 As the country raises its hopes on high
To be as one unite
Like the Bangladeshi boys in East London streets
Who proudly wear the red and white

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 We hope there’s cheers not many tears
As we go on our way
In what is just utopia
On that lush green field of play

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Will the multitudes all gathered there
And those who harbor doubts
Cheer with gay abandonment
Or barely raise a shout?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Are we as good as we think we are
Are the other team unknown?
Do we expect to go as far
As heirs to the throne?

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Will we all enthrall as purists
To appreciate great skill
Although he may not play for us
Will we applaud him still?

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 As we feast our eyes will we feign surprise
When a lanky bloke gives his all
Proving that he’s not just “A basket ball player”
Like Arsene Wenger said, the fool!

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 What ever way the dice may fall
What ever fate may conjure up
Surely the be all is saying I was there
I played in the World Cup!

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Cometh the man cometh the hour
Our time is now its here
Lets celebrate, berate, enjoy
As loyal true fans of our beautiful game do
With passion, hope, with cheer!
