Little Willie

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’m going to tell you a Foulke tale,
’bout a ‘keeper the size of a whale.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 6’3 tall, 22 stone fat,
but Willie Foulke were like a cat.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Played for the first ever Chelsea team,
Willie was awesome but Willie was mean.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He never liked strikers,
on that you can bet,
he once picked one up with one arm,
and threw him into the net!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 If that’s not enough of a service to the game*,
he invented the ball boy and gave it the name.**

Notes

*what else can you do with an irritating opposing striker?

**legend has it that, in order to intimidate the opposition by drawing attention to Foulke’s huge size,Chelsea had him take to the field with two small boys who would stand behind his goal. Once these boys started retrieving the ball, “ball-boy” was invented.
