Liverpool Is My Religion Is Liverpool

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “Some say God, we say Shankly”

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Liverpool the name conjures up the eternal child
In me named by 18 Leagues 4 European Cups
The smile of Emlyn Hughes eclipsed the moon
That night in Rome whilst Bob savoured immortality
And wore a crown of cloth
Then King Kenny his Peter
Carried the keys to the kingdom
In his boots whilst Razor crossed like a blessing
We prayed prayers answered with
The arrival of Shankly
In Liverpool
For these are glorious times.

Notes

“I was born by the banks of the Mersey
Facin’ the Irish Sea
It might not look like heaven to you
But its home sweet home to me”
