Living on Boro’d Time

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 No chance of winning
The game lost before the beginning
Public and pundits were agreed
It would be historic
To overturn such deficit
And that was before Boro went one down
But the gleam in an underdogs eye
Outshines any diamond
Scrapping for survival
Is the most effective tactic of all
Time ticking away
Showing signs of revival
Then Basle went down to ten
And we just knew then
We had ignition
Four sparky strikers led
Defenders plugged the gaps
Kept their heads
Its level and they’re nearly there
Time for one last scare
But belief now is strong
The doubt we felt all along
Replaced by euphoria
Even the neutrals flushed primary
The excitement of the winner
This is the beautiful game…

Notes

At half-time I thought of Liverpool in Istanbul and kept watching …

Middlesbrough go through 4-3 on aggregate to the UEFA Cup semi finals
