Long Time Coming

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 At last, a score
To bring a roar
From each and every Viking.
Before now, they’d
Been quite dismayed,
Results weren’t to their liking.
‘Twas plain to see
Their misery
Was due to woeful striking,
But now John Gill,
Triumphant, will
Be crowned as Dublin’s High King.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They beat the Bohs,
Despite Glenn Crowe’s
Renewed determination,
And at the back,
They took some flak,
But stuck fast to their station.
And soon they led,
O’Neill’s head
Producing great elation,
But straight away,
Crowe had his say,
To Horgan’s consternation.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And so Bohs pressed,
Like men possessed,
Which left their cover thinner.
And O’Neill howled
When he was fouled,
With Lynch adjudged the sinner.
And penno joy,
Despatched by Foy –
No novice or beginner –
Turned out to be,
Oh, ecstasy!
The Dublin City winner.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The troops were thrilled,
And glee o’erspilled,
At last they’d been successful,
As Bohs’ smooth boss
Bemoaned his loss
[His cup of joy was less full]
‘Tis clear John Gill,
This summer, will
Find that his job is stressful.
But Bohs fans could
Get angry should
Results remain distressful.

Notes

Dublin City 2 Bohemians 1
DC’s first win in the Premiership, at the expense of Bohs, who were expected to be Shels main rivals. They are currently 7 points behind Shels having played a game more. Still – early days yet.
