Losing to Youth

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 League Cup Monday game would suit
Her second time at the ticket booth,
Should have brought for her some fruit
Instead off feeding the sweet tooth
Explained why Beast was such a brute
She watched the chanters, most astute
Cos you needn’t be a super sleuth
To tell our play was most uncouth
Twas getting me down to tell the truth
Twould drive a man to dry vermouth

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A soft free kick she did refute
Back of our net, most curious route
Last minute level, him of no repute
Dreaded extra time, the details minute
Past her bedtime, we had to scoot
So missed the turkey/penalty shoot
Mercier Park off Joe Gambles boot
Losing to Wexford, decline so acute
Result to her didn’t matter a hoot
Teaching my young, losing to Youth

Notes

Brought my little girl to her 2nd game, League Cup at home to Wexford Youths on Bank Holiday Monday, surely we’d avenge last seasons shock semi final defeat, wouldn’t we?
Cork City 1-1 Wexford Youths AET
Wexford Youths won 5-4 on pens

My little one didn’t care, she watched the chanting and learned the songs and by the end she was chanting with the best of them.
She then went home and told her mother that The Beast was terrible.
