Love The Club As We Love You!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 ‘£500 to the team
and a fiver a head,
If you bring home the trophy,’
The Gaffer said.
‘A fiver’ll get my car repaired
And MOT’ed for another year.’
In 1950, players smiled when they played,
Get beat and they shed a tear.
So tell me Mr Rich Record-Signing,
Does this club mean as much to you
As the signing on fee you’re receiving
Or your sponsored boot or shoe?
We fans save hard and go without
Just to come and watch you play
We cheer you on through your scoring drought
Believing for a better day.
All we ask is that you love
The club as much as we do.
Give us some passion when you move
And we’ll forever adore you.
If that’s too much to ask…..
GO!

Notes

I, like most fans on the terraces, could cry when I see millionaire footballers playing as though this match is somehow interrupting their week and they’d much rather be doing something more interesting instead. I don’t demand much, just as much passion on the pitch as in the stands!
