Loving the Snow

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Snow shovelled off the icy pitch
that means a bright orange ball
fans wrapped up in club colours
watch you don’t slip and fall.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Watching from the stands
only the hardy have turned up
but these are the games I love
in the League or in the Cup.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Football looks good played in snow
seen some crackers over the years
standing on a windswept terrace
a cold chill bringing wintry tears.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Players with their sleeves rolled up
hard players just wanting to win
when they could make a tackle
and not worry about getting stuck in.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So to those who stayed at home in the warm
I hope on us cold fans you had some pity ?
just think you could have been like me
frozen and miserable watching Coventry City !

Notes

I’ve always liked a snowy winters match and Saturdays game against Ipswich was played in bouts of snow and icy winds.

We lost again in the final minute of the match and if that wasn’t bad enough got hit by a snowstorm on the way out.

But as usual a lot of City fans tried to laugh it off and in the pub they got round to talking about playing the likes of Hartlepool and Yeovil next season, no disrespect to these clubs, but it makes me proud to be a Coventry fan when even though our team is rock bottom and dropping out the division, we have still got some real football fans who still love their club.
