Lowestoft Town FC

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 They could almost taste the champagne
dance on their lips like sherbet fizz
But hopes and mouths dried up to dust
That’s just how football is

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 All level until injury time
No more nerves left to fray
A trophy almost in their hands
‘tiil Fate snatched it away

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A controversial winning goal
left Lowestoft Town in despair
Hearts sank as the whistle blew
They could only stand and stare

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It only takes a second to score a goal
Just a second to concede
If your team has scored only once
A second is all your opponents need

Notes

Lowestoft Town FC lost the final of the FA Vase 2-1 to Kirkham and Wesham in a heartbreaking finale which saw the winning goal come in the 95th minute. The Trawler Boys are filleted. But they will return and go on to better things – they should be proud of their achievement in getting to the final, that’s far more success than most East Anglian teams have enjoyed these last few seasons (ahem).

Well done to Kirkham and Wesham – a little team from near Preston, dreams do come true.
