Lunchtime stroll …

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 On my way to the bank
Through Dublin’s dinky streets.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A whiff
Of nicotine
As I stroll past the pub
Brings a flashback
Of watching Chelsea through a haze
Back in pre-Premiership days.
Then a certain scent
Redo-lent
Of that girl I once fancied
But now I hear
She’s joined Klinsmann’s clan
On account of
Beau de Cologne.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And then to jolt me from my reverie –
Just spotted :
2 wolves, on a lead –
No, not rabid Black Countrymen
But two ‘bone fido’
The real deal
Authentic Siberian snappers.
And –
They’re dressed in Ireland jerseys.
Now,
They may not be tigerish in the tackle
But I still wouldn’t like to feel their bite
In the midlands.

Notes

This was progressing as a poem to highlight what a one-track mind
I have, a self-proclamation of football fanaticism,
but after seeing that trio, I’m beginning to wonder who’s worse,
the owner or me?

A true story.
Although, the more I think about it, they MAY have been Huskies (excuse my ignorance).
But until we see the formation of Huskerhampton Waggers FC, why spoil a good tail? (sic)
