Magpie Song for Canaries

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 One for sorrow, two for joy
Three for a girl and four for a boy
Five for silver, six for gold
Seven for a secret never to be told…

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Concede seven goals in one league game
It’s an occurence that should have a name
To lose by one could be seen as a fluke
Let in two to earn a rebuke

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 When you concede seven
It’s really not your day
Stuffed, trounced, embarrassed
Worse than words can say

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Seven is fine when it comes to dwarfs and sins
But it’s not so great when it’s goals going in

Notes

Opening game of 2009-10 season: Norwich 1 – Colchester 7

No, I haven’t gotten over it yet…

Thrashed, marmalised, hammered – no word sums up that particular feeling of losing 7-1. Except, maybe, capitulation. Our worst ever home league defeat in the proud 107 year history of our club. Shall we speak of that bleak day often, or will it fade into insignifance as we recover to a storming season?

PS. 18.8.09 – Brentford 2 Norwich 0. Oh dear.
