When the whole blimmin lots going north
He sounds like the bloke who can laugh at a joke
He’s subtle, but been known to be coarse

His commentary cant is just bliss
“If he had pulled him back in that last attack
He’s going off there’s no excuse for this”!

Of the management game’s pitfalls and traps
But through his honesty and determined integrity
He rises above all the crap

The poorly paid away team were strapped for a meal
With no football fame gab big Mick picked up their tab
With a modesty that tells you he’s real

Dispatched swiftly to an early bath
He’s not afraid to say, while other stand on parade
Telling you “That referee’s just having a laugh”

Was hardly what you’d call discreet
After Frank had given him the run around a few times
Big Mick would just not admit defeat

Bird noises seeing stars so to speak
As Mick picked him up he was told to shut up
And listen to Mick’s ode to the weak
” Frankie me son me football skills none
But I’m the hardest bloke you’ll ever meet”!

To invite you in to his football party
He’s the voice of the fan on the telly
He’s one of me fave’s Mick McCarthy
