Minnows turning into Sharks

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s that time of the season again
When the minnows have their day
Yes, it’s the good old F.A.Cup.
Where all roads lead to Wembley Way.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Teams from non-league football
Knocking out clubs from League One
Just like Oxford beating Yeovil
And Northwich Victoria overcoming Charlton.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Every season has it’s giant killers
That’s why the F.A.Cup is so unique
Where games are more about commitment
Than fancy football or technique.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Non league sides with players who have jobs
Like Brickies, Office Workers, those who drive a van
And any club that’s worth it’s salt just has to have
A player on their books who’s a Postman.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Critics will say it’s losing it’s appeal
And it’s not like it used to be
Try saying that to the fans of Staines
Kettering, Northwich, and Bath City.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 They all know they’ll never win the Cup
But they can cause shocks along the way
And that’s what the Cup is all about
Giving Minnows the chance to be Sharks for a day !

Notes

I enjoyed watching the Cup games at the weekend on T.V. especially a cracking match at Northwich, and even though I’m a Cov City fan, I have to admit I punched the air at the final whistle, when Northwich held on.
But who doesn’t love to see an underdog win ? Look at David Haye in the boxing, a typical David versus Goliath contest.(pardon the pun) It must be a British thing ?
